Middle School
Middle School should be an exciting new beginning.
Middle Schoolers need a learning environment designed just for them. Instead of expecting sixth graders to sit still, stay focused, and listen to a teacher for 50 minutes, Waynflete offers classes where students are encouraged to move around, ask questions, brainstorm, and form their own conclusions. Surrounded by supportive adults and friends, Middle Schoolers make incredible leaps forward across three transformative years.
EXPLORE
Inside Middle School
Hanging out with friends in homeroom, study hall, and seminar. Bringing binders and iPads to class. Lockers, Café lunch, Latin class, lacrosse drills, learning a new instrument. Let our students show you what a day at Waynflete Middle School is really like—and why they love it.
ACADEMICS
A different kind of classroom
CAMPUS VISITS
What kind of school knows Middle School students need to see everything for themselves?
A Waynflete education is customized to every student. Our campus visits are, too. Want to see Waynflete Middle School in action? Let us create an amazing day of discovery just for you—scheduled around the academics, athletics, and activities that matter most to your child.
We can’t wait to show you a different kind of classroom. See what happens when teachers expect students to move around and share their perspective in class. When all courses are seminars filled with diverse voices and perspectives. When students have a dedicated academic advisor, a close-knit homeroom, and call teachers by their first names. When everyone can explore engineering, the arts, competitive athletics, and student-run clubs and extracurricular activities. And most importantly, how it feels to have friends from over 50 communities in southern Maine.
Simple. Low-stress. Always on your schedule. If you are wondering if Waynflete is right for your family, a customized campus visit will show you! Schedule a visit today!

Middle School Arts
Everyone shines
Our arts program advances intellectual and aesthetic growth and personal development—and gives students a chance to discover and hone new skills and express themselves in powerful new ways. Our program covers ceramics, dance, drama, general music, stagecraft, studio art, musical ensembles, and more.
Middle School Athletics
Everyone plays
Our athletics program introduces students to a variety of team sports, beginning with basic skills in Grade 6 Physical Education class and advancing to inclusive competitive teams (no cuts!) in Grades 7 and 8. Athletes of all skill levels make great strides and discover the joys of taking on physical challenges together.

Middle School Student Supports
Academic Support
For students with documented learning challenges, Waynflete can provide tutoring, extended time, or other accommodations. Faculty advisors confer with students and families at the start of the school year to get a strong plan in place and check in regularly with tutors, students, parents, and teachers to monitor progress and address issues throughout the year. Waynflete advisors may recommend testing, evaluation, and academic support for students to address emerging issues.
Health Management Plans
Students managing ongoing health concerns or experiencing short-term health challenges like concussions can rely on the Waynflete health team to help them navigate temporary classroom location changes, elevator privileges, waived physical activity, and more.
Crisis Support
Waynflete knows it is not always possible to come to school healthy and ready to learn. Teachers and staff are attuned to students’ wellbeing and watch for early warning signs of emerging mental health challenges. Our robust wellness curriculum also focuses on mental health to empower students to seek help if they are concerned about themselves or a friend. We employ two licensed clinical social workers as well as consulting clinical psychologists to be able to quickly and effectively connect students in crisis with effective services and referrals.
THE WAYNFLETE WIRE
We know every student needs more this year.
